Research and Economic Development

Research and scholarly activity are products of inquiry and creativity and should be expected of all of the university’s full-time faculty members.

To enhance regional and national competitiveness, faculty members are expected to compete successfully for external research funding.

As a public Land-Grant university, the University of Tennessee must be a driver for economic development in Tennessee. Products of research and scholarly activity should result in resources for economic development in Tennessee and beyond.
